Scope :- This data sheet covers the requirement of heat shrinkable high voltage non tracking rain sheds suitable for use in terminating of power cables upto 72 kv voltage rating cables in polymeric & paper insulated design. These rain sheds shrink to a predetermined size upon the application of heat above 1250C.

Typical Applications:
Heat shrinkable rain sheds are manufactured from high quality cross-linked polymer compound that offer exceptional insulation & long term service reliability. The base material of rain sheds is thermally stabilized polyolefins & compatible grades of synthetic rubbers. These blends together with other chemicals & crosslinking aids are processed under controlled parameters to produce a resultant end product which possess advantageous physical properties, excellent ageing stability, resistance against fire, oxidation, ozone, chemicals & other environmental effects. Due to its excellent non-tracking & erosion resistance inbuilt character, these rain sheds find diversified application in the electrical installations. The following are few typical applications where these rain shed/extension sheds are used.
As an integral part of heat shrinkable power cable terminations upto 72kv voltage class for indoor & outdoor. applications for extending the creepage path, thereby saving the length of cable & reducing the size of the switchgear cabinet required for this purpose.To provide extended creepage path & to avoid continuity of water flow over the surface of insulation during rain season to save short circuiting of the electrical installation.
